As a regular blogger with San Diego Moms Blog, I get some perks such as being invited to a blogger event at the new UTC Geppetto’s just before its grand opening. My kids and I have been walking past the Geppetto’s space at UTC near the playground for a couple of months while it was being built and my kids are always asking me when it is going to open – like I must know since I am a mom. But, I recently got a nice email from the folks at Geppetto’s asking us to come by and check out the new store. So of course I dragged my kids along.
We checked out the shop and even got a chance to talk to Brian, the owner of all the Geppetto’s. Shockingly enough, my kids loved the toys, especially the magnetic dart set. I liked that they stocked the toy store toys designed to stimulate the minds of both younger and older kids. I noticed that there were a lot of engineering/building type toys; I really like these toys because it keeps even older kids engaged and learning. They had some nostalgic toys like the little record player with 4 tiny records with nubs on them – remember that toy from when you were a kid? I do. They also have some cool crafty toys like paint-your-own vases and oil crayons. We chatted a bit with Brian, the owner, and he even showed us the toys that were made by local San Diego companies, such as the magnetic dartboard set my kids were obsessed with. I am excited that UTC is finally getting a toy store and that it is a great store like Geppetto’s.
The blogger event was to show us bloggers the new store and also let all our readers know about the Geppetto’s Grand Opening Party on Saturday, October 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This FREE, family-friendly and fun event is open to all and promises lots of good times.
